Online grocery store is helping Asian millennials across Canada redefine their culture through food for Asian Heritage Month

‘Toronto-based Auntie’s Supply is now shipping Canada-wide to reach a new generation of Asian foodies and home cooks who want to celebrate their culture in a new way.

TORONTO, CANADA May 4, 2022 - Auntie's Supply, an Asian-owned superette and food lifestyle retailer that curates snacks and ingredients for Asian millennials in Downtown Toronto, has expanded its mission to be an online grocery store and one-stop-shop for home cooks and foodies across Canada. The online-led platform prioritizes immigrant-led businesses, mom-and-pop suppliers, and Asian-Canadian and Asian-American brands that showcase the new generation of Asian flavours in North America.

The beginning of Auntie's Supply started from a personal pain point from the founder - a lack of access to familiar products and modern Asian food brands. After only 10 months of opening their doors, they’ve been featured in popular publications such as Destination Toronto, Toronto Star, and BlogTO. As of now, Auntie's Supply offers brick-and-mortar spaces in Downtown Toronto and same-day delivery in the Greater Toronto Area via UberEats and Doordash. In Celebration of Asian Heritage Month in May, they will launch their curated selection of goods across Canada to celebrate the innovation and perseverance of the Asian-Canadian community.

“I envisioned creating an e-commerce business that caters to the Asian-Canadian experience: a mix of traditional ingredients and snacks we grew up with and cater to new lifestyles such as vegan and gluten-free”, says Founder, Christina Pack. “For many of us who grew up with immigrant parents, we were underrepresented in the aisles of grocery stores and even in 2022, there is a lack of ingredients in mainstream grocery stores. My Filipino family traveled to at least 3 different stores to get everything they need and I find myself doing it even today. That is why Auntie’s Supply was born.”

For shoppers looking to recreate their old food memories and make new ones, Auntie's Supply offers kits and product groups that can be added to a cart individually. Kits include their Umami Kit - a mix of award-winning sauces and cooking essentials featured in publications such as Food & Wine, The Wall Street Journal, and Bon Appétit. Their groups call out different lifestyles and values such as Vegan, Gluten-Free, Nut-Free, and Women-owned businesses. While they initially focused on East Asian products, they will expand to Southeast Asian later this year.

“We want to curate snacks and ingredients for Asian millennials and we can’t wait to deliver that experience across Canada this May to help our community recreate their fondest food memories and make new ones”
